About us
Our Story
Our journey started from a place of overwhelm. We were lost in the sea of confusing information regarding using native, straight species, and edible plants. After spending a whole growing season (and hundreds over dollars) planting what we thought were native, straight species plants, we knew we had to do something about the lack of good info out there. So, with determination, we embarked on a mission to simplify and democratize access to this knowledge.

Our Mission
Our mission is to promote the widespread adoption of native plants, permaculture principles, and eco-friendly landscaping techniques throughout the island of Nantucket.
How We’ll Get There
We will collaborate with local environmental non-profits like Nantucket Conservsation Foundation, Nantucket Land & Water Council, Nantucket Land Bank, and Sustainable Nantucket to exchange knowledge, promote education, secure funding, and implement public projects that emphasize native species and sustainable landscaping techniques.
What’s At Stake
Without native plants, Nantucket risks losing biodiversity, rare habitats like sandplain grasslands, and its cultural identity. Non-native plants often require harmful fertilizers and pesticides, threatening water quality and the bay scallop fishery. Native plants, adapted to local conditions, support wildlife, protect against invasive species, and build climate resilience. Planting natives preserves the island’s ecology, beauty, and heritage.
Our Values
We believe in the transformative power of our yards to echo the wild beauty of our island. We’re driven by a deep-seated passion for ensuring that everyone, no matter their background, has access to the right information and resources to create outdoor spaces that are not just beautiful but also sustainable.

In Situ: Our Native Plant Nursery
Our native plant nursery focuses on making sure that there are enough native plants on Nantucket to service the landscape and residential community with beautiful, straight-species native plants found in New England and on Nantucket.
